Oh for sure! I think a ton people struggle with this, multiple times throughout their career. What has always helped me was talking to people in the industry I wanted to break into. First to ask about their experience — How did they decide on that path? What do they like or dislike about it? What does the future of that industry look like? Then I dive into my experience— I have these x, y, z skills currently, what jobs would that translate to into that industry? What are the names of those roles? Then you have a vocabulary to work with in job searching and a potential vision of the future of that path to think through.
Any resume advice for someone doing a career pivot with over 10 years of experience? I am struggling with single page vs 2 pages, since most of my relevant experience for the new career comes from previous roles.
A two-page resume is fine based on the amount of experience you have. You can add a career highlights section to the beginning of your resume to highlight your relevant experience on the 1st page of your resume. This can showcase your fit for the job.
